Bandipora: A couple of commuters on Wednesday had a miraculous escape after incessant rains triggered shooting stones on Bandipora-Srinagar highway at Sangri near Garoora in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Towheed Sheikh who was travelling to Srinagar had a narrow escape after he slowed down his vehicle to attend a phone call.
As he was inches away “big stones started to roll down from the hillside. “I stopped the car and closed my eyes after the scary sound subsided, I opened my eyes to find that big rocks very near to my vehicle had blocked the road.”
Pertinently the widening of Bandipora-Srinagar road has been going on for a long time at snail’s pace, and the executing agency Roads and Buildings department of J&K govt has been criticised for not maintaining the “safety measures” along the road for conducting widening works.
