TRC casual labour protests for five years’ unpaid wages

SRINAGAR: The Casual Labours’ Union of the Kashmir Tourism Department’s Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) held a protest demonstration in Srinagar on Friday, demanding the release of their long-pending wages.
Scores of casual labours assembled at the TRC premises, chanting slogans in favour of their demands.
The protesters said that their wages had been pending from July 2014 till date.
Kaiser Ahmad Bhat, one of the casual labours at the TRC, said, “We are working in the Tourism Department as casual labours, but our wages are pending in the department from July 2014. We are demanding that the department release our wages without delay,” Bhat said.
“We have no money in our pockets to pay the school fees of our children and fulfill the basis needs of our families,” he said.
The protesters requested Governor Satya Paul Malik to look into the matter and release their wages.
