Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai Friday condemned the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) on Jamiat-e-Ahlehadith vice president Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, and shifting him to a Jammu jail.
In a statement, Sehrai said that “such undemocratic act could not weaken the freedom sentiment of Kashmiris. Arresting and slapping PSA on prominent scholar is an attack on religious sentiments of the people”. He demanded his immediate release. He said, “The authorities are trampling humanity under their boots by slapping PSA brazenly.”
“It is sheer injustice and illustrates the brazen display of invocation of draconian law,” he said, adding that cases against dozens of youth, leaders and activists are filed under this infamous law and shifted to far-flung jails is a travesty of justice.
Sehrai also condemned the arresting and slapping PSA on Mohammadd Shabaan Dar and Aquib Gulzar and detention of Advocate Mir Assad Ullah of Jama’at-e-Islami. He said that Jama’at is a socio-religious organisation and arresting its leadership and workers and the imposing of ban on it is unjustified.
Meanwhile, Sehrai expressed grief over New Zealand terrorist attack on Muslims.
