NC block president shot at in his orchard in Bijbehara

Anantnag: Unidentified gunmen shot at and seriously injured a block president of the National Conference (NC) in Dupathyar village in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara Thursday evening.
The injured, a 60-year-old man, has been identified as Muhammad Ismail Wani, a resident of Dupathyar village.
Wani was shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment. Doctors said his condition was stable.
“He was shot in the abdomen. He was given basic first-aid and then shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment,” a health official in Anantnag district told Kashmir Reader.
A senior police officer confirmed the shooting and said it took place at about 5:30 PM.
“Wani was working in his orchard when the incident took place,” the officer said. “The area has been cordoned off and searches are being conducted there.”
Vice President of the NC and former chief minister Omar Abdullah posted about the attack on Twitter.
