Srinagar: In an intensified public outreach by bureaucrat turned politician Farooq Ahamd Shah, over six thousand people have joined the National Conference in Tangmarg constituency of Baramulla district, a spokesman said on Thursday.
“Five hundred people joined the party on Wednesday from Tantraypora, Darakashi, Ganiwaen, and other areas,” he said in a statement.
It further said that Shah on Thursday visited many areas in the constituency and interacted with people. During the visit, he held various public interactions at Goom Ahamdpora, Khore Sheerabad, Naulari, Kongamdara and other adjoining arrears.
The former IAS officer urged the people to vote for the National Conference in the upcoming parliament and assembly elections, stating that only National Conference can ensure development and prosperity in the world famed Gulmarg Constituency and elsewhere in the state.
He said that his priorities would be to bring multi-crore road projects, educational institutions including IITs and tourism skill development institutes to the constituency. “I would be working for the overall development in tourism, health, horticulture, PHE, R&B and other sectors in the constituency which not only have the potential to boost the economy in the area but also bring employment opportunities for the local youth,” the statement said.
Shah vowed to bring transparency in the system, and said he would ensure equitable development in all the areas of the constituency.
“The NC cadres are upbeat by the Shah’s nomination for the assembly elections and have pledged support to him,” it added.
