SRINAGAR: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) on Saturday condemned the summons issued by NIA to Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Umar Farooq and ban on Jama’at-e-Islami saying such moves will further deteriorate the situation in Kashmir.
KEA chairman Mohammad Yousuf Chapri and KTMF president Mohammad Sadiq Baqal while addressing a joint press conference at Press Club Srinagar said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is not only a political figure but also the religious leader of the people of Kashmir.
“Mirwaiz sahib has a great contribution in social, religious and educational fronts. The history of Kashmir is replete with the contribution of the Mirwaiz family,” they said adding that summoning Mirwaiz to Delhi for questioning is unacceptable for the people of Kashmir.
They said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also time and again supported the calls to Kashmiri pandits to return to valley.
The trade leaders regretted the Government of India’s ban on Jama’at-e-Islami which they said has been done lot of work during 2005 earthquakes and 2014 floods in Kashmir Valley.
“Jama’at-e-Islami is not only religious but also a social organisation which has been providing free education to orphans in Kashmir,” KEA spokesperson Mohammed Siddiq Ronga said.
He also condemned PSA on JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifting him to outside state jail.
