Srinagar: “In June last year, Fatehkadal youth Qaiser Ahmed died when he jumped on the bonnet of CRPF vehicle and fell down,” the J&K Police has stated before the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in a report submitted Tuesday.
The report has been filed by SSP City North Srinagar. It states that on June 1, 2018, police station Nowhatta recieved reliable information that a white-colour CRPF gypsy had hit two persons.
“Acting on the information an FIR under Section 279, 137 RPC was registered at the concerned police station. Later on, one of the injured person namely Qaiser Ahmed of Fatehkadal succumbed to his injuries and accordingly section 304-A RPC was incorporated in the FIR copy,” the report reads.
The report further says that during the course of investigation, a site plan was prepared and statements of witnesses were recorded. Correspondence was made to all CRPF units and to PCR Srinagar for ascertaining the vehicle.
“After sometime, a video was uploaded on Rising Kashmir page clearly showing the vehicle number as HR55C-3367 which pertained to 28-CRPF battalion. During investigation, the said vehicle was seized and was later on released in compliance with court orders. Meanwhile, the video footage was sent to FSL for expert opinion,” the report mentions.
The report further mentions that the person who is seen under the vehicle alive was identified as Younis Ahmed of Dalgate. He along with another individual, Qaiser Ahmed, had jumped on the bonnet of the CRPF vehicle and fell down receiving injuries, the report says.
“Qaiser succumbed and died. Moreover, the statement of witnesses say that there was heavy stone-pelting going on that fateful day. Investigation of the case is still going one and will be concluded at earliest,” report of the SSP states.
