IGP Kashmir asks police to adopt people-friendly approach

SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone S P Pani while interacting with police personnel and officials at Shopian on Friday stressed upon them to adopt people friendly attitude while carrying out their duties.
He urged upon the officers to prioritise the redressal of grievances reported at police stations in a professional manner and hold frequent public interactions.
According to a police statement issued here, IGP Kashmir visited Shopian and chaired a security review meeting with the officers. Later he interacted with the personnel at DPL Shopian. He was accompanied by DIG SKR Atul Kumar Goel and SSP Shopian Sandeep Chaudhary and other officers from the district.
In his address at DPL, IGP Kashmir emphasised that technological advancement in police are aimed to usher more transparency and accountability in the functioning of police and stressed for adaptation of modern technology which is resulted oriented and people friendly.
Welfare measures initiated recently by the department were discussed besides rewards were also distributed among the officials, the statement said.
IGP Kashmir also chaired a security review meeting with the officers of the district in which the security considerations of the area were discussed.
