Baramulla: Authorities on Monday suspended the Karwan e Aman bus service between the divided parts of Kashmir that went through Uri at the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official said that authorities at Salambad Uri on Monday morning received an order from the government saying that the bus service between the divided parts of Kashmir should not cross the LoC, but there was no reason written in the order copy.
The local officials believe that the step may be taken by the government after the Pulwama attack in which 49 CRPF troops were killed and several others injured.
The official who spoke to Kashmir Reader said that higher officials have been asked about the season but they are yet to inform. He said that the bus coming from the Pakistani side of Kashmir also did not arrive on Monday.
The official said that a decision regarding the cross-LoC barter trade is also pending with the authorities.
The cross-LoC bus service was started in 2005 through Uri Kaman post. Since then, thousands of people from both sides have travelled on it to meet their relatives and friends.
