SRINAGAR: In army fatigues, brandishing a variety of weapons, and speaking in a soft voice, Jaish-e-Muhammad militant Adil Ahmad claimed responsibility for today’s suicide car bomb attack on a CRPF convoy at the national highway, then proudly recounted the Jaish’s history of major attacks – from the ICA18 hijacking, 2001 Parliament attack, Nagrota attack, Uri attack, to the Pathankot IAF base attack – in a video released after he hit the CRFP convoy, killing 44 troops.
“By killing a few of our militant commanders you can’t weaken us. We become stronger day-by-day, and will bring you down before Islam, not by seeking your mercy, but by waging Jehad against you… Listen and understand, we are going to come at you so hard that facing us will not be an option for you,” Adil says in the video.
“I am done with my responsibility, and there are thousands waiting to repeat the same,” he says.
He sends “a message for north Kashmir, central Kashmir, and Jammu”, by reminding them that people in south Kashmir have been fighting against India and that it is now time for them to join in.
“Join us, we will fight together against Indian forces, and carry forward the mission which is about to end. The force of the mission should get stronger when the mission is about to reach its logical conclusion… If there no movement, there is no dignity, no life,” Adil emphasises before saying a final goodbye.
In the video, Adil says that he joined Jaish only a year back. Police sources say that a background check has revealed that he worked as a carpenter before joining militant ranks and has left behind his mother and two brothers.
Sources in Pulwama said that hundreds could be seen thronging Adil’s house, soon after his name and video were released by Jaish-e-Muhammad.
