Massive ‘suicide’ attack in Kashmir leaves over dozen CRPF soldiers dead

Srinagar: Fifteen CRPF personnel have been killed and dozens others injured in a powerful “suicide car bomb attack” on Kashmir highway.

 

A senior police official confirmed to Kashmir Reader that 15 CRPF troopers have got killed while several others have been injured. He said the death toll may rise to 20.

The official said that 40 soldiers have been admitted to army hospital in Srinagar.

The attack, according to the police, took place at around 3:15 pm.

Following the attack the traffic on Kashmir highway has been suspended and forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched searches. The traffic on the highway has been diverted through Pulwama villages.

Meanwhile, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit has claimed responsibility of the attack claiming that more than a dozen CRPF personnel were killed and several others injured.

A JeM spokesperson Muhammad Hassan in a statement issued to  GNS said “dozens of forces’ vehicles were destroyed in the attack”.

The spokesperson identified the driver (of JeM) who carried out the fidayeen attack as Aadil Ahmad alias Waqas Commando of Gundi Bagh, Pulwama
