Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday condemned the “mysterious” blast at a school in south Kashmir’s Pulwama, and said such incidents have taken place in the past in various places across the Kashmir “killing and seriously injuring the children”.
In this incident, reportedly 12 students have sustained injuries.
Mirwaiz in a statement said: “Due to the prevailing level of huge political instability in Kashmir, no citizen feels secure. All this is the direct outcome of the lingering Kashmir dispute.”
Hurriyat (M) chairman prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured students and expressed solidarity with their families.
Mirwaiz also paid tributes the slain militants killed in an encounter with the government forces in Budgam, and stated that “the sacrifices of these youth are painful”.
“…because of the Government of India’s repressive policies, our young and educated youth want to avenge the persecutors and choose armed means of resistance, which is extremely sad,” he said and added: “These boys are giving up their present for a better future for the coming generations and it is incumbent upon each Kashmiri to safeguard and strive for the cause for which they are sacrificing their lives.”
Mirwaiz regretted the “criminal silence” of the world community over Kashmir situation, and stated that “their silence emboldens the Government of India”.
The resistance leader also denounced the slapping of PSA on the Central University Student – Adil Farooq Bhat and shifting him to Kotbalwal Jail, and said, “Our educated youth – if not killed – are detained with draconian laws like PSA and shifted to from far off prisons, thousands of miles away from their homes and families, to punish them.”
Mirwaiz demanded the unconditional release of Adil Farooq.
