Srinagar: Like in the Class 12 annual Board examination, girls have outshone boys in the Class 11 annual examination results. The percentage of girls who have passed the exam is 7 percent more than that of boys who have passed.
The results of the 2018 academic session annual exams for Class 11 were declared by the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Wednesday evening. The overall pass percentage of students was 63 percent, the Board said in a handout.
Out of 62,101 candidates who appeared in the examination last year, 39,406 have passed, the Board said.
As against a pass percentage of 60 percent for boys, 67 percent girls have passed the examination.
A total of 32,227 boys had appeared in the annual exam across streams of Arts, Commerce and Science, out of whom 19,284 have succeeded.
Out of 29,874 girls who appeared in the exam, 20,122 have passed.
Besides outshining boys in terms of the overall pass percentage, girls have performed better in the stream-wise pass percentage also. Against an average pass percentage of 40 registered by boys in Arts, 55 percent girls have succeeded in the stream.
While 68 percent and 85 percent boys passed in the Commerce and Science streams, respectively, girls have registered a pass percentage of 83 percent and 90 percent in the two.
The JKBOSE had itself conducted the Class 11 annual examination of the 2018 session. The annual examination used to be conducted by respective schools earlier.
