Srinagar: Two unidentified militants have been killed in a gunfight with government forces in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam.
A police spokesperson said that based on credible inputs about presence of militants, a joint team of forces cordoned Gopalpora village in Chadoora and started a search operation.
“As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight,” the spokesperson said.
In the ensuing encounter, he said, 2 militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. The identities of the slain militants and their affiliation is being ascertained.
The spokesperson said that incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter.
