Road Safety Week: Awareness programme marks conclusion in Shopian

SHOPIAN: To mark conclusion of weeklong awareness campaign under 30th Road Safety Week, a district level awareness programme was held on Tuesday at mini secretariat, here.
According to a statement, Motor Vehicle Inspector of Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Shopian, Irfan Ul Islam on the occasion welcomed a large number of participants including transporters, drivers, conductors and general public.
Experts from Motor Vehicle Department delivered lectures on various road safety measures. They stressed on the need for strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations to minimize the road accidents and traffic jams.
In an award ceremony, certificates and mementos were given to those who performed best during 30th Road Safety Week.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Saleem, SSP Shopian Sandeep Choudhary, CPO, Deputy CEO and other concerned officers also attended the function.
Representatives of various Transport Unions and private schools, volunteers of NCC and NSS and college students also participated in the programme.
