Srinagar: Police on Tuesday foiled a protest rally of National Health Mission (NHM) employees who tried to march towards Polo View here.
The NHM employees are on strike for the last 27 days demanding regularisation of their services and other benefits.
The protesting employees first assembled in Pratap Park here and later on marched towards the Residency Road. When the protesters reached near Kothi Bagh police station, police swung into action and used spray to foil the protesters after they blocked the traffic movement on the busy road.
President NHM employees association, Dr Sajjad Ahmad Qanunago said that they are demanding regularisation of their services phase wise.
“Our representatives have already attended three meetings with the government officials. We are still waiting for the proper response from them,” he said.
He said that they are also demanding equal pay for equal work and other social security benefits from the government.
The protestors threatened that they will continue their protest demonstrations if their demands are not fulfilled soon.
