JAMMU: Advisor to Governor, K K Sharma, on Monday felicitated Janak Raj Angural Chairman, J&K Grameen Bank with an award for outstanding contribution towards rural development in the state in presence of K K Balachandran, CGM, NABARD, Suresh Chand, CGM, NABARD, Thomas Matthews, ED, RBI, Parvez Ahmed Chairman J&K BANK, Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary, Government Department of Animal and Sheep Husbandry.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma appreciated the efforts of the bank for spreading financial literacy and awareness in the state, citing the bank formed 500 JLGs, conducted 174 financial literacy programmes in FY 2017-18 and opened 2854 NRLM accounts, an official handout read.
CGM, NABARD, K K Balachandran and Suresh Chand appreciated the bank’s performance in micro finance and financial inclusion activities throughout the state. They also appreciated the bank’s performance in social security schemes and especially the 100 percent claim settlement rate maintained by the bank under PMSBY and PMJJBY schemes, read the handout.
Chairman J&K Bank, Parvez Ahmed, commended J&K Grameen Bank for being honoured for its financial inclusion activities. As a sponsor bank, he further impressed upon the bank representatives to target 100 percent saturation of social security schemes in all the rural areas of the state, it read.
Thanking NABARD for the award, Chairman J&K Grameen Bank, Janak Raj Angural appreciated the efforts of micro finance and financial inclusion section of the bank. He further assured that the bank would continue to play a major role towards development of the state and its populace in each aspect, the handout added.
