SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Monday urged the J&K Governor, Satya Pal Malik, to reconstitute the committee to examine state toll tax citing the constitution of the committee gave an impression that it was a “region-based committee only”.
In a letter, addressed to the state governor, the chamber stated: “To our understanding, the chairperson of the committee needs to be at least Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce having jurisdiction over the whole state, with both the respective directors industries (Jammu/Kashmir) as members.”
The letter read that it was very surprising that the chamber had not been given due representation in the committee and that it (KCCI) failed to comprehend as to who amongst the nominated members would be conveying the viewpoint of the industries from Kashmir region.
The KCCI, in the letter, alleged that the manner in which the committee has been constituted was questionable and undermined the seriousness of the issue under examination.
