Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Monday chaired an emergency meeting of officers and pharma dealers to review the stock and supply position of essential and emergency drugs.
According to officials, Khan today took cognisance of news reports about the shortage of some vital drugs in Kashmir markets following the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway.
He directed the chemists and druggists to maintain enough stock of all medicines so that there will be no shortage of essential drugs in the market.
Kashmir Reader carried a report in its Monday edition highlighting the shortage of some emergency and essential drugs in the market which has lead to distressing situation among patients.
The representatives of Jammu and Kashmir Chemists and Druggists Association (JKCDA) assured the Divisional Commissioner that they will ensure adequate supply of drugs in the market so that people will not have to face any difficulty. They claimed that they have enough supplies available for one month.
“If patients are facing any shortage of drugs, they should contact us. We will provide them the drugs. We have conveyed this to the Div Com also because we have enough stock of all drugs” Rahil, a representative of JKCDA told Kashmir Reader.
