Baramulla: The residents of the upper belt of Rafiabad in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district complain that most of the roads connecting the remote area with tehsil headquarters and main towns are still cut-off as authorities have not cleared the snow-bound roads.
There is almost 5 feet snow and the roads connecting the area with other urban areas have not been cleared yet, the locals told Kashmir Reader.
Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Kutran-Naribal, said many patients need immediate medical help; however due to snowbound roads they are unable to reach hospitals.
“Yesterday, a lady patient was taken on shoulders by her relatives to hospital at main town but there are several others who await clearance of snow,” he said, adding, “We even informed authorities to clear the roads but they didn’t take any steps.”
Similarly, the people in Chotali, Banali, Dudran and Hajibal of tehsil Boniyar alleged that authorities have not cleared the snow-filled roads due to which they are facing hardships.
Several other villages of Kandi belt of Baramulla are still cut-off from the district headquarter Baramulla. The bulldozer sent by authorities to the area cleared the snow at only few roads.
The people have appealed authorities to alleviate their sufferings by clearing the roads at the earliest.
