Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Yasin Malik on Sunday said paid tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Bhat on his anniversary, and said he is cornerstone of our resistance.
“Bhat was an ideologue, a statesman, a warrior, a political leader and a diplomat who led Kashmir on all fronts and sacrificed his life for the sacred cause,” Malik said in his message, according to the statement issued by the party.
He will always remain as a “symbol of freedom and liberty not only for Kashmiri nation but for all the nations which are striving for their freedom and emancipation,” JKLF chairman said. “His struggle and martyrdom is a glorious chapter of our history.”
Malik, who is in detention, further said that Maqbool Bhat started his struggle as a teenager, continued it during his youthful days, migrated for the righteous cause and returned back to his mother land.
He not only showed us how to “continue struggle and resistance but also illustrated before us the way to continue resistance from jails and incarceration centers,” Malik added.
He appealed to people to follow JRL program in letter and spirit, and “observe a complete shutdown on February 11 to raise their voices in favour of returning back the mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru”.
The pro-freedom leader also paid tributes to slain Kulgam militants.
