Srinagar: Kashmir highway remained shut for the sixth straight day on Monday due to landslides at several places on the highway.
A traffic department official said that a landslide hit the highway at Marog Sunday evening blocking the road. He said that the traffic will be allowed to ply only when the landslide is cleared.
The blockade of highway has left hundreds of vehicles stranded for the last six days thereby causing acute shortage of essentials in the valley.
Airfare between the valley and outside has skyrocketed after the closure of the highway on February 6, with series of avalanches hitting Jammu and Kashmir in various spots.
