Srinagar: Reacting to the decision of Jammu and Kashmir government to grant division status to Ladakh, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on Saturday alleged that it is a well thought out plan to trifurcate the state on geo-political, cultural and religious lines.
“By adopting different tactics, New Delhi is hell bent to influence the disputed nature of JK under the garb of development,” Sehrai said in a statement.
It is an attempt of “fragmentation and division with an aim to disintegrate the whole territory into smaller regions to create hostility, wedge and non-cooperation with each,” he stated, adding: “Such moves were hatched since 1947 to dilute the historical status and disputed character of JK which they continue to do till this date.”
TeH chief added: “From Srinagar to New Delhi, efforts are being made to shift focus from core Kashmir issue by portraying it away from its historical and ethical background.”
Sehrai also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the avalanche at the Jawahar tunnel.
