Budgam: Several families had a narrow escape as a protection wall collapsed in ward number-6 of Budgam town in central Kashmir during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Locals told Kashmir Reader that the they were fast asleep when a blast like sound was heard from roadside.
When the locals went out they found a massive portion of protection wall collapsed. “The 100 feet wall, which was made of cement and stone and had a cemented slab, could not withstand the weight of the snow, causing the wall to collapse,” a local Shabir Ahmad Bhat said.
He added that their residential houses and other structures which are located along this wall are in great threat as they can collapse anytime.
Meanwhile debris of the wall has resulted into the closure of Karipora-Budgam link road, creating immense hardships to local residents.
