Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Thursday said he has issued termination notices to National Health Mission employees, who are on strike for last 25 days, hours after he warned them to join work or face action.
The strike of NHM employees has created a medical crisis in the district, as it led to staff scarcity at most health centres including the District Hospital Bandipora, and in Gurez Division.
“I deeply appreciate the role played by NHM staff but can’t hold public hostage when issues are under consideration. Left with no option termination notices issued. Public first,” Deputy Commissioner Shahid Choudary wrote on Twitter.
Earlier in the day, he had said there was no point in making patients suffer as the government was working on their demands.
“NHM staff should immediately report to duties. The action being taken. Govt is working on demands of contractual NHM staff. No point in making patients suffer endlessly, ” Shahid had tweeted earlier in the day.
