BUDGAM: Seven families had a narrow escape after a snow avalanche hit their village in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.
Reports said the avalanche hit Zogiyar village in upper reaches of Kokarbagh in Khag Tehsil of the district in the wee hours of Thursday.
They said that seven families of the village had a narrow escape and were rescued out safely and shifted to safer places.
“There was no immediate report of loss of life or damage to property. However, the families have been accommodated in police station Khag,” police said.
Police said that the families, including women and children, have been provided with food at the police station and are being provided every basic amenity.
Meanwhile, the district administration has asked people of neighbouring Shunglipora, Sugan and Sutharan areas to remain vigilant as the villages fall in avalanche-prone zones.
