Baramulla: Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the mysterious death of a fitness trainer who was found hanging in a building near his gym centre in Azad Gunj area on December 18.
A police official in a statement said that gym trainer Azim Nazir Khan of Uranboha Uri had committed suicide following breakup with a non-local girlfriend.
He said with death of Azim Nazir son of Nazir Ahmad Khan of Uranboa Boniyar at Azad Gunj Baramulla in which case FIR No 207/2018 was registered in police station Baramulla and accordingly a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to investigate the matter. “The team has thoroughly investigated the matter, collected evidence and questioned 32 people regarding the case,” the official said.
It was revealed during the course of investigation that the deceased was in relationship with a girl (name withheld) from Rajasthan and the couple had recently broken up which the deceased was unable to come to terms with. “Unable to bear the shock as an extreme measure he hanged himself,” the official said.
He said the electronic, circumstantial, medical and forensic evidence also established the hanging by rope. “Also, the statements of witnesses who had knowledge of the circumstances and events thereof, recorded before the court substantiated the same,” the police official said.
Moreover, he said, the injuries in eye and ear were also established by medical and forensic experts to have been got inflicted after the death, most likely by rodents. “Accordingly, the matter has been closed as a case of suicide,” the police official said.
