J&K team brings home haul of medals in National Masters Athletics Championship

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir State team which participated in the National Masters Athletics Championship held at Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan from February 1 to 4 brought home a big haul of medals including 12 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze.
Haji Abdul Qayoom, president J&K Masters Athletics Association congratulated the team especially the medal winners for the excellent performance in the National Championship.
“We could have won more medals had the Athletes from Valley reached on time, as the highway remained closed for a number of days,” he said.
The medals winners are:
35+: Mangat Singh 10000 mtr Gold, 5000 mtr Silver
40+: Sharat Chander Singh 100 mtr Silver
Reyaz Ahmed 10000 mtr Gold, 1500 mtr Bronze
45+: Seema Kharyal 400mtr Hurdles Bronze
50+: Pawan Sharma 10000 mtr Gold, 1500 mtr Silver, 200mtr Bronze
60+: Sudesh Basotra 5000 mtr Walk Gold, 5000 mtr Silver
Kanta Bhutyal 800mtr Gold, 400mtr Gold, 200mtr Gold
Rampaul Kapoor 5000 mtr Silver, 1500 mtr Silver, 800mtr Gold
65+: Tarsem Basotra 5000 mtr Walk Gold
70+: Brij Mohan Sharma 400mtr Bronze
85+: Devi Dayal Sharma Shotput Gold, Discus Throw Gold, Hammer Throw Gold
Tarsem Basotra and Sudesh Basotra had accompanied the team as Men/Women team managers and Sharat Chander Singh, NIS Qualified Athletics Coach as Chief Coach, an official statement issued here said.
