Modi waves at nothingness from waters of Dal Lake

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s penchant for the camera was trolled on Monday after he waved apparently “at nothing” while on a visit to Dal Lake. Modi was visiting the Dal amid a public shutdown on separatists’ call and curbs on civilian movement in the area. Indian news agency ANI on Sunday afternoon shared on Twitter a video of Modi travelling in a navy-blue motor boat on the Dal Lake. In the midst of the lake, with no people or fellow travellers around, Modi waved in different directions from the boat, as if huge crowds had thronged to see him. Former J&K CM Omar Abdullah took a jibe at the Indian PM on Twitter while sharing the ANI video. He wrote that the cameraperson had done Modi “a huge disservice by not showing all the people furiously waving back because there is no way the PM would be waving at an empty lake”. Omar’s tweet was retweeted more than a thousand times and garnered more than 4,000 likes. Former CM and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also took a dig at Modi, writing on Twitter that the wave was one “for BJP’s countless imaginary friends in Kashmir”. Sharing the video on Twitter, Aditya Menon, a New Delhi-based journalist, wrote, “New Delhi has many imaginary friends in Kashmir. PM Modi is waving at them.” Among the many tweets on Modi’s act was one by Pandith MP: “Modi waving to mountains and Dal lake waters”, and another by Shilpa Bodkhe: “Modi’s photo shoot
