Hilly areas suffered most during PDP-BJP ‘misrule’: NC

SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) senior leader and former minister Abdul Gani Malik on Monday lashed out at PDP and BJP for “neglecting” rural and far-flung areas during their “nightmarish misrule” of over three years.

According to a statement issued by NC, Malik while addressing NC workers at Mahore in Reasi district said the lack of development and dilapidated condition of roads and utility services have multiplied the people’s problems.

“As a result of poor utility services, the people of the hilly areas especially Gulabgarh constituency have been braving the brunt of erratic power supply and scarcity of drinking water during the ongoing winter season,” he said.

He said due to inaccessibility and disruption in road communication, the people of various areas are deprived of food grains. He called for ensuring quality rations and replenishing of the stocks in the far off areas.

“The people are craving for basic amenities and the administration should take care of their needs,” he said.

The NC leader blamed the previous government of abandoning various initiatives taken by the National Conference government and said the remote areas have been left in lurch in respect of development.

He also urged the administration to take immediate steps towards restoration of infrastructure damaged due to snow in the wake of recent heavy snowfall.

Malik assured the people that their specific problems will be brought to the notice of concerned departments for early redressal.
