Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) Saturday condemned the house arrest of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq ahead of Prime Minister’s visit to the valley, saying “the entire Kashmir has been turned into a military garrison”.
The spokesperson in a statement stated that ahead of the Modi’s visit, “every road is dotted with security forces, resistance leadership caged in their homes or at police stations and massive frisking and search operations being conducted everywhere leading to harassment of general public”.
He said that these measures are “deliberate attempt to add to the miseries of people”.
The statement further said that Mirwaiz expressed grief over the demise of Ghulam Muhamamd Sheikh, brother-in-law of AAC leader Muhammad Shafi Khan.
