Protest in Pampore villages against power woes

PAMPORE: The residents of Shar Shali and Khrew villages in Pampore on Friday staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) over the power woes.
The villagers of Khrew said that the transformer in there was damaged over three weeks ago, “but the PDD has failed to replace or repair it”.
“The officials are not bothered to get it repaired despite the fact that matter was brought to their notice,” they alleged.
“Despite several requests, the district administration and PDD authorities have failed to resolve our problem, forcing us to come on the roads,” said a protester.
Nearly 65 households of the area “are dependent on one 65 KV transformer,” they added.
Khrew residents said they are protesting against unscheduled power cuts.
“We are reeling under the darkness over past two months,” they said.
