BUDGAM: Hundreds of Sakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) employees on Wednesday staged a protest in Zehra Park Budgam to demand the “pending salaries” and “regularisation”.
The employees assembled in the park and chanted slogans against the administration for failing to release their pending salaries even after a year.
Holding placards and banners, the employees said that till March 2018, we were working with the SBM, but the salaries are still pending.
They added they have been working under SBM with the education department from last seven years but their services have not been regularised yet.
“We demand a comprehensive job policy be framed so that our future can be secured,” said an employee Sikandar Mir adding, “our salaries have also been withheld from past three years even our services have been utilized from time to time”.
The protesters said that their file is pending with planning department for the last two years and has gathered rust but the officials are unmoved and reluctant to redress their genuine demands.
“The concerned CEOs have submitted a comprehensive report for framing of job policy in our favour, but till date nothing positive has come up,” they said.
The protesting employees appealed Governor to personally look into the matter so that their future can be secured.
The protestors later submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner Budgam.
