Srinagar: A government school in Wagoora area of Baramulla is allegedly being vandalised by miscreants, who locals alleged are even indulging in drinking in the premises.
Local residents have taken to social media alleging that some “rouges” were “having booze” at the girls high school in the village, during the ongoing winter vacations.
The locals termed it as “sacrilegious act and a damning indictment on the morality of our society”. They added that the school had been “vandalised” in the past too.
The miscreants used to trespass illegally, even into the classrooms and defile the walls with objectionable inscriptions besides damaging the school property, they said.
“Now these rogues are having booze inside the premises…We request these people to stay away from our institution,” a local resident said in a Facebook post. A picture of a liquor bottle has been uploaded along with the post.
Many netizens, village residents, registered their protest while reacting to the post. While one of the netizen termed the incident unfortunate, another asked the Education department officials to take action.
Principal Government Girls High School Wagoora Kouser Haseen told Kashmir Reader that no complaint has reached to her regarding the allegations but added that she would order an inquiry. Haseen informed that a government-run Winter Tutorials was operating inside the school.
The miscreants might be getting into the school premises after the tuition hours, she said.
“A few fire incidents took place at the school some time back as it had no fencing. Two of our teachers are posted at the winter tutorial set up there. I will enquire from them and let you know,” Haseen added.
