Budgam: The residents of Chewdra village of Beerwah central Kashmir’s Budgam are up arms against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to replace the proper HT and LT Lines in the village.
The residents are reeling under darkness as the HT and LT lines got damaged for the fourth time in a week.
The residents said that they have been demanding the proper HT and LT lines in the village as the lines cut frequently at various places resulting in damages to transformers as well.
“We pay electricity fee regularly but our problems have never been resolved,” they said.
The HT and LT lines got damaged many times during this winter. Due to the lot of congestion of local electricity connections, the HT and LT lines can’t bear much load. Several years have been passed but we have not received the new HT and LT lines and poles from the PDD,” said Mushtaq Ahmad Baba, a local resident.
The residents said that if the department failed to solve their problems they would have no option but to hit the streets and block the road in protest.
When contacted, Executive Engineer PDD Budgam, Nasrullah Jan said: The allotment of the poles and wires has been sectioned under the project of central government sponsored scheme. The work has been started in the main Beerwah.”
“The department is doing the survey upon the ground level .Hopefully the work will be started in the village within a period of one month,” he added.
