SRINAGAR: In connection with celebration of 70th Republic-Day, functions were held across Kashmir Division on Saturday.
At Pulwama, the main function was held at District Police Lines. Deputy Commissioner, Ghulam Mohammad Dar unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Commandos, Homeguard and school children participated in the march past.
SSP Pulwama Chandan Kohli and other officers of police and civil administration were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC threw light on the various developmental activities and achievements in various sectors including education, agriculture, horticulture and R&B in the district.
The DDC thanked people of the district for their cooperation and coordination in various developmental achievements in the district.
The artists of information department and youth services and sports presented cultural programmes.
On the occasion, students belonging to various government institutions who passed class 10th and 12th examination with outstanding merit were also felicitated.
At Kulgam, the main function was held at District Police Lines, where Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani hoisted the tricolour and took salute at the march past.
Contingents of CRPF, JKP, District Police band, Home Guards, NCC cadets and platoons of boys and girls from different government and private educational institutions participated in the march past.
The cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion by the students of various government and private schools of the district.
During his speech, the DDC highlighted the developmental scenario of District Kulgam where several developmental projects are under execution and will be completed in a fixed time line.
Principal and Sessions Judge Kishore Kumar, SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh Mehta, ADDC, Khawaja Nazir Ahmad, commandant CRPF 18th battalion, Henzang, ADC, Ghulam Hassan Shiekh and other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
At Budgam, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar took salute at march past and unfurled the tricolour at the main function which was held at Sports Stadium Budgam. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Home Guards, NCC and school students participated in the march past parade.
Former Minister Javed Mustafa Mir, SP Budgam Amod Ashok Nagpure, ADDC Budgam Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, ADC Budgam Khurshid Ahmad Shah and senior officers of the district attended the function, besides large gathering of locals.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Budgam said that the district administration is committed to the overall development of its people.
She said that the government has sanctioned projects worth Rs 234 crores and shortly these works will be taken up. She said these projects include 19 bridges, 4 roads with cost of Rs 53 crores.
Further, the DC called upon all citizens to coordinate with the administration and contribute in making the district more prosperous and progressive.
On the occasion, awards were given to various employees for their meritorious services.
At Bandipora, the main function was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of JK Police, JKAP, BSF, CRPF, NCC Cadets and students of various schools.
On the occasion, the DC presented a detailed report on developmental front.
While presenting the performance of the district administration during the current financial year so far, Dr Choudhary said 2018-19 would be remembered as a golden period of the district with major projects seeing the light of the day.
He said One Stop Centre (OSC) – providing an array of services, from skill development to psychological assistance to violence affected women under one roof is all set to start functioning in Bandipora district from next month and various posts have been advertised for contractual appointment of the staff for the OSC.
At Anantnag, the main function was held at Government Degree College (Boys) Khanabal, where Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Younis Malik unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the Parade.
The DC on the occasion highlighted the role of various departments taking the district to new heights of the development. He said that under Annual District Plan 2018-19, Rs 199.5 crore were sanctioned and earmarked for various sectors.
The function was attended by all district and sectoral officers and employees of all departments and general public.
At Ganderbal, District Development Commissioner Dr Piyush Singla unfurled the tricolour at Madre Meharban Stadium here.
The DDC took salute at the march-past, presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, PTS Manigam, Home Guards, besides, school children from various educational institutions.
In his address, DDC highlighted the various developmental achievements registered by district administration including education, sports, public works and health sector.
The DDC said the district has done remarkable work in implementation of schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, skill development program for girls, Ayushman Bharat and Swatch Bharat Mission with respect to other districts of the state.
Trophies and cash prizes were also distributed among students who showed remarkable performances in recently declared 10th/12th results by JKBOSE.
At Baramulla, the main function was organized at District Police Lines. GOC 19 Infantry Division Major General Gulaab Singh Rawat, DIG North, Kashmir Atul Goyal, DIG CRPF, SSP Baramulla, ADC Baramulla, ACR, President Municipal Council Baramulla, officers from civil, police and Army besides a gathering of people was present on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash hoisted the tricolour, inspected the Parade and took salute at the March Past presented by the contingents of Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and School children.
The DDC on the occasion enlisted various developmental projects being undertaken in different sectors and said that the district has recorded splendid development in these sectors.
The DDC also complimented the services rendered by the officers of district administration and emphasised upon them to work with more enthusiasm in placing district Baramulla at top slot.
At Kupwara, the main function was held at District Police Lines Kupwara, where District Development Commissioner Khalid Jahangir hoisted the tricolour, inspected the Parade and took salute on the March Past presented by the contingents of Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and school children.
The DDC highlighted that district has shown tremendous growth in various sectors and various schemes have been successfully implemented in the district. He said that Baramulla-Kupwara-Chowkibal-Chamkote Road has been approved for widening. Moreover he said that tunnel at Sadna will reduce the distance and travelling time between Kupwara and Srinagar drastically.
At Kargil, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan hoisted the tricolour at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium and took salute at march past presented by the contingents of Police, NCC, Army and civil band besides a number of contingents of government and private educational institutions.
Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Aga Syed Mujtaba, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal, Superintendent of Police Dr Vinod Kumar, Councillors, district officers besides the representatives of various political, social and religious organisations were also present on the occasion.
While highlighting the achievements, developmental activities underway and future plans of the present Council in Kargil District, the CEC said that the council is fully committed towards the overall development of the district in all sectors and several important initiatives are presently underway in this regard.
At Shopian, the main function was held at District Police Lines where Deputy Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmad hoisted tricolour and took salute on the March past.
Contingents of Police, JK FPF, Home Guards and Fire & Emergency besides the contingents of students from government schools took part in the March past.
Dr Owais while hailing the annual turnover of Rs 1000 Cr in horticulture sector in the district said that more schemes and opportunities will be given to the orchardists for the development of horticulture sector. He said more than 90 percent of people in district are directly dependent on horticulture sector and government is committed to nourish this sector with more facilities and schemes to the orchardists.
He further said that the Government is fully committed towards all round development of the district and several important initiatives and projects are under way for the development of district.
Dr Owais congratulated the public on getting fulfilled their years old demand of upgradation of Sub-District Hospital to District Hospital at Shopian.
He said that a transparent, responsive, accountable and efficient administration is ensured in the district and persistent efforts are made to reach out to the public at their door steps for listening of their grievances and delivery of services.
The Deputy Commissioner felicitated outstanding youth in the field of education and sports. He also felicitated officers and officials of different departments for their outstanding performance especially during the winter.
At Kathua, Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, unfurled the tricolour and took salute at march past.
He said the recently inaugurated Keerian-Gandial Bridge connecting J&K with Punjab will not only improve connectivity but the socio-economic profile of the area will also be uplifted.
At Udhampur, the main function was held in the premises of government PG College, Boys Udhampur wherein Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Kumar unfurled the tricolour.
The DC took salute at an impressive march past of 35 contingents drawn from CRPF, SKPA, Home Guards, District Police, NCC, Flag troops, Civil Scouts, of specially-abled and students from different educational institutions besides Police Band.
At Doda, the tricolour was hoisted by the District Development Commissioner Anshul Garg.
On the occasion, DDC complimented the people of the district for huge participation in ULB polls and Panchayati elections 2019. He said that various developmental projects are underway in the district.
At Kishtwar, the function was held at New DC Office Complex wherein Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana unfurled the tricolour.
The Deputy Commissioner counted numerous developmental projects taken up in the district.
At Rajouri, the main function was held at District Police Lines wherein Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the march past.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted various developmental works undertaken in the district. He said district administration is making all-out efforts to provide better civic facilities to the people. He said various initiatives have been taken to make administration accountable, transparent and time-bound so that people do not face any difficulty.
At Ramban, Deputy Commissioner Showkat Aijaz Bhat unfurled the tricolour at DPL Ramban which was attended by a large number of people.
The DC gave a brief account of the main developmental activities in the district including those which are to be completed in near future.
At Poonch, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav hoisted the tricolour at Sports Stadium here.
The Deputy Commissioner mentioned various ongoing developmental and social schemes in the district.
