SRINAGAR: Jama’at on Wednesday condemned the assault of journalists by the forces in Shopian, terming it “an attack on freedom of speech”.
According to the statement, the spokesperson said: “This action is not only inhuman but quite against the basic fundamental rights particularly the freedom of speech.”
He further claimed that in another incident, “teenager from Haba-Kadal Srinagar Mohammad Younis got seriously injured when forces threw stones and bricks upon him without any apparent and just cause”.
“He has received a head injury and is lying in a hospital in a very critical condition,” he stated.
Jama’at appealed the world community to take note of rights violation in Kashmir, and “take effective measures to bring the violators to justice”.
