SRINAGAR: The meteorological department on Saturday forecast for the next 24 hours widespread light to moderate snowfall in Kashmir valley, fairly widespread over Jammu, and scattered over Ladakh.
“From 20th January to 22th January there may be heavy snowfall in isolated places,” Meteorological Assistant Ajay Bhat said.
“The temperature during night will remain in minus,” Bhat said.
An official from the traffic department said, “The traffic movement on national highway was open only for one-way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar.”
“If the climate condition will remain normal, the traffic movement will remain open from Srinagar to Jammu,” he said.
A few flights were cancelled because of bad weather but air traffic was restored in afternoon, an official from the airport authority said.
Chief engineer of Power Development Department (PDD) in Kashmir Division, Hashmat Qazi, said proper electricity was being supplied in all the districts. There were no power cuts anywhere in the valley, he said.
“I have directed all the employees of PDD to supply proper electricity to all the districts,” Qazi said.
“The snow has been fully cleared from the three districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal,” Said Abdul Rashid Bhat, executive engineer at the Mechanical Department in Srinagar.
