SRINAGAR: Masarat Aalam Bhat was on Thursday brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu to Srinagar for the hearing of a case lodged against him in 2015, Muslim League said.
According to the statement, the spokesman Sajad Ayoubi said that Aalam was brought to Srinagar from Kotbhalwal Jail to appear before the CJM Srinagar for an FIR no. 50/2010 lodged against him by Kothibagh Police station. “The next hearing of the case is scheduled to be held on Jan 30. After the hearing, he was taken back to Kotbhalwal Jail Jammu,” he added.
“It is quite disheartening that he is being subjected to vengeance by state authorities,” he said. “The administration has made its mind to place Aalam behind bars and it is using PSA as a tool to prolong his detention despite court having repeatedly quashed his detention and directed his release.”
Muslim League called for an early release of Aalam and appealed to the international community to note of his “illegal detention”.
