Baramulla: The residents of Palhalan area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday staged a protest against Power Development Department (PDD) at railway track near the village demanding a new transformer and repair of a damaged transformer in the area.
Reports said the residents from Hajam Mohalla staged a protest on the railway track outside village. A team of police, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pattan and other senior officials rushed to the spot and assured the protesting people that they will forward their complaint to concerned department. The SDM Pattan told protesting people that a new transformer will be installed very soon in the area and damaged one will also be repaired as soon as possible.
Residents said the administration didn’t listen to their repeated requests forcing them to come on railway track to protest.
They said that they are facing immense hardships without electricity in the area from past 25 days.
Residents alleged PDD for failing to repair the damaged transformer and said that in the absence of electricity their children are most affected, as they are unable to prepare for different examinations.
The protesting residents threatened that if department fails to install a transformer in the area they will again come on railway track to protest.
