BARAMULLA: A leopard said to have killed dozens of animals in past few months in Kupwara district was captured by Wildlife officials on Friday evening.
Wildlife officials said that they had received lot of complaints about the beast from people, after which a team was rushed to Zangali area of Kupwara, which tranquilized and captured the leopard.
The leopard was taken to Sopore, from where Willife officials will release him in some forest area, they said.
Local sources said that the leopard had created panic in the area by killing over two dozen domestic animals in the last few months.
Officials said that due to recent snowfall and low temperatures several wild animals like leopards and black bears were venturing into civilian areas in search of food.
They advised people living along the forest areas to not move alone in morning and evening hours and remain vigilant while working in orchards and fields.
