Srinagar: Muslim League on Saturday alleged that detainees are subjected to “mental and physical torture” in Udhampur, Kotbhalwal, Kathu and other jails.
In a statement, the spokesperson claimed that Pakistani prisoners are ill-treated and said that “it is unfortunate that the jail authorities treat these prisoners like professional criminals.”
“Pakistani prisoners who are in jails from last 10-15 years have been recently shifted to Kotbhalwal, Udhampur, Kathua and other jails from central jail Srinagar, are kept in dark narrow cells and denied basic rights. They are forced to work,” he claimed.
He further stated that they are given unhygienic food due to which their health is deteriorating. “It is political vendetta that detainees are ill-treated.”
ML appealed to human rights organisations to visit these jails and help stop ill-treatment of these prisoners.
