Pulwama: The Police on Thursday arrested a mentally challenged man after he allegedly damaged the window panes and glasses of a local shrine in Pahoo village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama.
The person on early Thursday morning entered into the shrine of Syed Lateef-u-din Ambali (RA) at Pahoo Pulwama, the locals said, breaking window panes
He was handed over to the police by the residents.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that locals noticed a man desecrating the shrine and caught hold of him. “A police team reached the spot and arrested the person on charges of desecrating a Sufi shrine,” he said.
“Apparently the person looks mentally challenged,” he added.
He further stated that after the video went viral on social media sites, his family along with the locals approached the police Station Kakapora and presented the medical report of the offender,” he added.
The accused was later handed over to his family members, SHO Kakapora Sarjan Ahmad said.
