Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on Thursday dubbed Kashmir as a “flash point” between India and Pakistan, and said the Government of India has always opposed third party mediation on Kashmir issue.
In a statement, TeH chief said: “The Norwegian PM’s mediation offer clearly indicated that world doesn’t subscribe to New Delhi’s claim over Kashmir”.
“Kashmir dispute has historical background and context which can’t be ignored and dealing with it militarily is not going to break the resolve of the people of Kashmir,” he added.
Sehrai while appealing the international community to interfere, asked them to take cognizance of the current situation in Kashmir. “There is a need for the international meditation to press India to stop the human rights violations and to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the UNSC resolutions.”
In that scenario we welcome “any international intervention in Kashmir”, TeH chief stated.
