SRINAGAR: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) deputy mayor Sheikh Muhammad Imran on Wednesday said he is not associated with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) but has come to serve people.
“BJP has my phobia. I’m not associated with this party but have come to serve people not to buy people like others. BJP, Congress, etc are part of SMC, not for lobbying,” Imran said while addressing a press conference here.
The deputy mayor added, “My job is to serve people and I’m doing that. I’m not a puppet. I work in the field. BJP workers should come out of their AC rooms and work on ground level by getting connected with people.”
He also accused BJP of playing communal politics in the Valley.
The deputy mayor said Srinagar will soon become Smart City and the drainage system will be repaired and restored.
“Kashmiris want development, and we, as people’s representatives, will provide them all the possible facilities. I am accountable and answerable to my people,” he said.
