JKBOSE 12th results: Ganderbal girl tops in Commerce stream with 97.80% marks

GANDERBAL: It was a proud moment for Gandrbal district on Monday evening when the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) declared the results of Class 12 examinations.
Student of Green Valley Education Institute, Illahibagh Srinagar, Zakia-Binti-Zia, daughter of Peer Zia-U-Din Baba from Tulmulla, Ganderbal emerged as the commerce stream topper in the Kashmir region.
Zakia-Binti-Zia scored 489 out of 500 marks with 97.80%
Zakia is the second daughter of her parents and Zia-ud-din Baba her father is a sectional officer in Jk Fund Organisation.
Zakia’s mother, Zahida Zia, MSC in Chemistry, works as lecturer is education department and is presently posted in Girls Higher Secondary School, Ganderbal and her elder sister Zarka is pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh under SAARC quota.
Interestingly, the names of the five-member family start with Z.
“There is no secret to success, just keep working hard. It’s okay even if you are not able to score well in your exams at school. Just keep working hard. Don’t give up. Have a good timetable fitting everything – enjoyment, studies, etc. Have everything in the right proportion,” said Zakia.
She credited her success to her parents and school teachers.
Peer Zia-ud-din Baba, Zakia’s father said that Zakia was a dedicated student from her early age and has proved it again in her 12 class.
“Everybody in my family questioned her to chosen commerce stream after class 10th examination, but today she has proven all of us wrong by securing first position,” he said.
Baba said the choice of selecting a subject should be left to the student so that he/she can excel in his/her career.
Zakia is known as a good sports person in her school and has played games including baseball, volleyball and cricket.
She is the first-ever student from District Ganderbal, who has secured first position in 12th class BOSE examination.
Zakia is the second student from Ganderbal who brought the district in limelight.
Earlier, Maleeha Zahoor of Wussan, Kangan of the district secured second position in 10th class last month.
DDC Ganderbal, Piyush Singla tweeted on the development, and wrote: “Congrats to young lads.you made our district proud. Lot of blessing, best of luck for future endeavour.”
