Srinagar: The Army has denied allegations of harassing transporters in northern Kashmir.
As reported by Kashmir Reader, transporters in northern Kashmir districts have alleged that army camps in the districts were harassing them and snatching their vehicles at will.
Rebutting the allegations, defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that the army camp at Sopore and elsewhere “follow the well laid down procedures for use of civil transport hired for administrative and operational purposes. During an emergency or operational requirement, once the transport is hired, compensation as per the market rates is given. Additionally, the Army also takes care of the driver’s safety and administrative arrangements.”
