Candidates stage protest, burn posters and paper cuttings
Baramulla: The candidates who had submitted application forms for different class 4th posts in the year 2006 in this north Kashmir district staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday against the district administration which ‘failed’ to issue the selection list till date.
Both male and female candidates from different areas of the district including Uri, Sopore, Rafiabad, Pattan and Tangmarg assembled at Kiryapa Park Baramulla and marched towards DC office where they staged a strong protest against the district administration. The members of traders’ federation Baramulla also took part in the protest.
The protesting candidates said that they submitted their application forms for different class 4th posts in Baramulla district under advertisement number 04/DDC of 2006, dated 18-10-2006, under endorsement number DDCB/2006 class 4th/8522-35, dated 19-10-2006,) in which at least nine departments were mentioned by the administration.
They said that district administration conducts interviews in several phases, but till date, they failed to issue the selection list.
“Most of the candidates including female are visiting DC office Baramulla everyday to enquire about the selection list and several candidates have passed away in past 13 years. But the authorities failed to issue the list till date despite repeated assurances,” they said.
As the candidates reached DC office, the main gate was closed by the officials for at least three hours from 12 pm to 3 pm and did not allow anyone to enter into the office premises, forcing candidates to protest outside gate.
Not only were the candidates, the other people visiting DC office stranded outside the main gate for three hours.
The protesters burnt posters and news paper cuttings in which DC Baramulla had promised to issue selection list within a few days or a few weeks.
While talking to media men outside DC office, president traders’ federation Baramulla, Er Tariq Ahmad Magloo and senior politician Gulam Hassan Rahi criticised the district administration Baramulla for not issuing the selection list.
“Our unemployed youth are waiting for the list from past 13 years and government is not taking any serious step for its solution,” they said.
They appealed governor administration to take steps so that DC Baramulla will publish the list as soon as possible, otherwise these candidates will create any law and order problem in future.
The protesting candidates said that on July 27, 2018 a news story was published that how DC office Baramulla and director planning Baramulla passed wrong information to grievance cell that list of selected candidates of class 4th jobs will be published before July 15, 2018. “Then DC Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash in a video massage and a press release through information department announced that selection list of class 4th candidates who applied for the posts in 2006 will be published in the first week of August 2018,” they said.
However, they said, the helpless candidates are still waiting and list of selected candidates is yet to make public.
“Last month, deputy commissioner Baramulla, Nasir Naqash in a written reply to High Court said that the selection list will be published once the model code of conduct ends. Months have been passed since then but the list has not been issued yet,” the protesting candidates said.
At around 3 pm, DC Baramulla Nasir Ahmad Naqash assured a two member committee of protesting candidates that list will be publish till next Monday or Tuesday in front of media men.
The candidates threatened that if administration failed to publish the list within given time, they will again hold a protest and administration will be its responsible.
