Baramulla: The residents of Wanigam area Tangmarg in this north Kashmir district are up in arms against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department which ‘failed’ to provide them portable drinking water.
The people said that department forced people to walk long distances to fetch portable drinking water.
The residents experience enormous difficulties routinely as they always have to stand hours in long queues under cold in search of water, but many return home with empty water buckets owing to huge number of people at water abundant areas.
“Our men, women and children often fell ill by drinking unsafe and mud filled water. Authorities are not showing any concern for resolving the issue,” the residents said.
