Baramulla: The residents of Shitloo village of Rafiabad in this north Kashmir district staged a protest in front of DC office Baramulla after their low capacity power transfer damaged repeatedly.
A large number of people from Shitloo village reached DC office Baramulla and staged a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) which according to them failed to upgrade their power transformer from last several years.
Shouting slogans against the department, they said a 63 KV transformer was installed for over 70 houses several years ago and it damaged over 20 times in the past two years.
The residents said they requested concern department many times to install a 100 KV transformer so that people could not suffer. “But the PDD did not paid any attention to our repeated requests to resolve our problem,” they said.
“We also requested our MLA concerned so many times. He too failed to resolve our problem. Now we request DC Baramulla to use his good office to resolve our long pending issue,” Suhail Ahmad, a protester, said.
They said that from past twenty days they are living under complete darkness, “Because the transformer got damaged again and the department did not shift it to the workshop for repairmen,” they said.
The protesting people threatened to hit streets if PDD fails to repair and upgrade the transformer soon.
